Artist Helen Zapata is known worldwide for her extraordinary Oil, Acrylic, and Pastel paintings. Drenched in vivid color, and infused with emotional drama, her rich canvases leave us with the feeling that our own view of the world around us has been forever altered. Zapata's unforgettable colors, combined with her passion for the atmospheric and reflective changes in hue that drench her chosen subjects, provide the foundation for an arresting body of work. |
“Who spends as much time thinking about the visual world around us as we artists? We look, we absorb, we translate our lives and the lives of those around us. We don't just admire a beautiful sunset... we see the individual colors; we see how the light is bursting through the clouds; we notice the reflections in the windows of the houses behind us; we see how the mountains glow with that odd golden light at a certain time of year. We see the morning sun sparkling on the telephone lines, turning them into ribbons of silver draped across the desert. We feel the emotions that the world of beauty surrounds us with, and with which the tragedy of life consumes us... and we turn immediately to our chosen medium and begin the process of translation and attempt to capture it into what we call 'Art'.
"Whether or not we paint each and every miracle we observe..... we 'paint' in our minds constantly. We can't help it and I don't believe we can stop it. It is our gift from God. And I am deeply grateful for it." (Helen Zapata) |
